Here’s the newest crazy quilt block I’ll be working on this month in honor of my Mom. I have so much fabric given to me by her. The question has always remained with me about what to do with all the scraps and cut pieces. Our fabric choices are like night and day of course. She always [...]

An update on my crazy quilt block is due. I have experimented with some composite band stitches that are new to me: Interlaced chain stitch, twisted lattice band, and the fancy herringbone stitch. The last is just a beautiful stitch band when you choose interesting fibers to work with that have contrasting qualities like thick [...]

I am happy to say that my Haiku crazy quilt block is finally finished. It’s a funny thing about crazy quilting, you can just keep adding one more stitch here or motif there. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston has a wonderful online exhibit of Textiles, embroidery and needlework from their collection. I searched under “needlework” and “embroidery” on their site search and spent some time on the Tour of Textiles. They have a nice zoom/pan feature to get closeup views of the embroidery and textile pieces. I recommend grabbing a [...]

I had some fun over the weekend experimenting with handmade cards in lieu of the store bought kind. This one will be given to my youngest daughter who used to sing this song to me when she was in pre-school. The cards work up quickly and are simple to make with a few basic supplies.
Heavy card stock, cut to [...]
