Hi Wendi,

It is a starting point to learn about the many varied aspects of the needlearts business. There are many other resources available on the web that are informative as well. A good book to start with is "Publish Your Patterns! How to Write, Print, and Market Your Designs" by Nancy Restuccia ISBN 0971450137. I also suggest you read any book by Barbara Brabec.

Yarn Tree has a good Business to Business section on their website you might like to start with. The link is http://yarntree.com/ and the Business section is at the bottom of the main page. It is a good starting point in your business research to learn about trade shows, distributors, publishing, etc. They have a wonderful website in general for you to look at to get an idea of current designs, designers, products, etc.

Hello,

I'm trying to start my own cross stitch design business and I was curious if you could give me any advice.

I do have a few of my designs posted on my blog, just the patterns, as I haven't stitched examples yet.

Any critiques would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Wendi

Here is the link to Vikki Clayton's website http://www.hand-dyedfibers.com/oscnuked/index.php . Marilyn, thank you for the wonderful reminder for the silks. I can tell that I will get lost for a time this morning on Vikki's site trying to decide which ones to get. I also saw some buttons that will need further investigation!

Thank you Lee for your kind thoughts. I think it is very important to work time into each and every day by stitching or creating something. I find those quiet moments good for the spirit and the threads and fibers have a quiet beauty.

Melinda,

Ribbon is another wonderful item that Vikki has; lots of variegated colors and very reasonable prices as well! I just got some boggy marsh ribbon last week that will work perfectly into my quilt. As long as I'm back by the meeting, I'll try to remember to bring some of what I have for you to choose from. Your picture is showing yours off beautifully.

So lovely! Beautiful fabrics, great thread colors, and expert embroidery. I'd say this CQ block has it all! It's just wonderful.

Melinda,

Isn't it awesome beach walking and looking for glass! Two weeks ago when Betsy was here we walked one day and found 49 pieces of glass. It was the best day of her week off!

Enjoy every day this week; the weather seems to be with you.
