My Garden Journal - Welcoming Spring
March 17, 2008 by Melinda

Slowly, I have started to pick up leaves from my garden. Slow going around the tender shoots, but careful, happy work despite the cold wind still blowing. The daffodils are well on their way and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the small columbine clusters and black hollyhocks fared well over the winter. I started some lavender plants last year from seed, nurtured them along in pots and finally planted them into the gardens in the Fall. They are strong plants and will be a welcome addition around the garden this year.
Last week was a flurry of many different activities for me. I did manage to complete a third Welcome Sampler for one of the Habitat Homeowner families. Not much time for stitching other projects. I will begin work on a fourth sampler this week. I received five frames from my friends at East Side Mouldings, who were so very kind in providing them in support of my Habitat needlework project. I am very thankful for their many kindnesses and beautiful frames. When I get to lacing and framing the needlework, I will be sure to post a photograph of the finished, framed projects.
I have started a new email newsletter as a means of directly announcing new designs and releases. If you would like to take part, I have forms for signing up on my website and blog in the column at right. Many new cross stitch designs are on the horizon this Spring and Summer that have been on my drafting table and needlework frames.
Happy Spring!

OOOH Melida..
I am so jealous that you have croci and daffodil shoots coming up. My yard and gardens are still under two feet (maybe three) of snow…although more disappeared in the sun yesterday and today. It has been a very snowy winter in Ontario!
I won’t be sorry to say goodbye to winter either, Ann. You received much more snow than we did!
