Craft Ideas for Spring
March 6, 2008 by Melinda
I am a collector of bits and things that spark my imagination. In the Fall, I look for the small things from nature that might be of use later in a craft project to be worked on a winter’s day. Often on my walks, I will look for small items such as acorn caps. My lucky find this past Autumn were tiny robins eggs of the brightest blue, cracked and broken, but just beautiful. They have maintained a steady place on my desktop all winter to remind me of Spring.
The acorn caps were put to good use, of course, on some tiny fairies. Made from bits of felt, embroidery floss, faux flower petals, some lopi yarn for the hair braids, and floral wire, these fairies were simple to make and just alot of fun to create. I think that these little fairies would be such fun to place along side the eggs for an Easter egg hunt in a backyard for a child to find.
These little garden fairies also provided the inspiration for an upcoming cross stitch design to be published in The Cross Stitcher Magazine. Look for my Spring Garden Fairy Bookmark in the June issue.
