Random Acts of Kindness
February 9, 2008 by Melinda
It has been a good week for designing. I have had my pencils working overtime on a few new cross stitch design layouts. Let’s see what happens with them. Some are for magazines, some are for my own projects. Next week will be devoted entirely to stitching models.
Speaking of next week, did you know that February 10th - 16th is Random Acts of Kindness Week. Like throwing a pebble in a pond, you never know where the ripples will end up. The following are just some random thoughts for kind deeds for others, feel free to add your own:
Visit a nursing home and donate the extra yarns, knitting needles or crochet hooks you own to the folks there.
Start now and knit some warming caps with your extra yarns and donate them to your local hospital for the newborn babies.
Use the accumulated scraps of fabrics from your quilting or sewing projects and make a quilt or pillow for a chemo patient or Project Linus.
Offer to volunteer at your local school or girl scout troop and teach some children to cross stitch. Pass along the love of needlework.
Make some Valentines for Veterans and thank them for their sacrifices. You can drop the valentines off at your nearest Veterans Hospital or VA Agency.
I have a warm cup of coffee or two set aside for the school crossing guards at our local elementary school who manage to get us safely across the streets every day.
