The Sampler
January 9, 2008 by Melinda
Alot of tasks have been accomplished this week that don’t make for interesting reading. Being a freelance artist, there is a need to wear many hats: marketing and promotional work, book keeping, correspondence, etc. which incorporate a necessary bit of time. All are very important, but nonetheless, they do not make for an interesting read.
I have been impatient to get going on my current project. I am very excited about it! I have a lovely fabric chosen for it - 32 count Tumbleweed Linen - specifically because it gives it a wonderful vintage look. There is a poem which I have written that will be incorporated into the cross stitch design. It will be in honor of the many women who came before us and taught us through their loving needlework handed down through the generations. The title of it is simply called “The Sampler”. Refinements need to be made to the rough sketches. It holds great promise and I look forward to seeing my needle begin its journey across the canvas of blank fabric.
