Valentines
January 5, 2008 by Melinda
Sometimes it is nice to have a little extra time to make small gifts for special people in our lives. January gives us that opportunity after the rush of the holidays. Here are some ideas for Valentines Day that are relatively quick and easy to make up.
For the large envelopes, I used perforated paper in white and ecru for the base and stitched small heart shapes using the Smyrna cross stitch with assorted colors of variegated floss by The Gentle Art. The hearts are fastened to the handmade paper envelopes using a little crochet thread tied through the centers.
The smaller hearts are worked with GAST flosses using perforated paper and plain cross stitches outlined with a backstitch border. The large heart with ‘Je t’aime’ was worked using GA Simply Shaker floss in Buttermilk using cross stitches and backstitches. Handmade cards for Valentine’s Day - simple and quick to make.
