Holiday Stuff

I have never grown Amaryllis plants before. My youngest daughter found the bulbs for these in a store and was curious about the flowers. We bought these two, planted them and set them on a sunny window sill. They certainly grew very quickly and bloomed in no time at all. I see why folks make it a point to have an amaryllis plant for the holiday season. They are marvelous. I hope they last a long time!
We had a fun weekend. The kids had a nice break from school. I found a simple project for beaded candy canes on Martha’s website that we could all do (plus I had all the materials on hand). You cut a piece of floral wire about 7 inches in length and make a small loop at one end with needlenose pliers. Next, begin to pick up glass seed beads till it fills the length of the wire and make another small loop to close off the end. Make a set of three of these beaded wires, then twist all three together, bend the top into a hook shape and you have some beautiful beaded candy canes. My girls really enjoyed making these and it was an easy project with quick results.
So, back to school for the girls and back to work for me today. I have edited the patterns to two new cross stitch designs while the changes I made are still fresh in my mind. They are stitched and all ready, but most likely won’t be out till next year some time. This week I will begin another new project with the intention of at least getting a head start. I keep my expectations pretty low for finishing things in December!
