Crafting Fun
November 18, 2007 by Melinda
School vacation is coming up and the kids will be home for a few extra days. We have been trying to come up with ideas for fun crafts to work on. Earlier last month we collected a bag full of small pine cones. We have done internet searches for ‘pine cone crafts’ to find ideas for our pine cones. There are pine cone turkeys, wreaths, swags, table decorations, napkin ring holders, gift wrapping decorations, etc. The kids came up with an inventive use of their pine cones for Thanksgiving. They took a cue from those seen on Martha’s website for pine cone turkeys. These are cute and the girls had fun.
I also found some inspiration on Martha’s site for Granny Square bookmarks. Last year’s Christmas gifts that I made included handmade Hardanger bookmarks to go along with a good book to read. I thought I could work up a few of these crochet granny square bookmarks for gift giving this year. They work up quickly and it was a nice, easy break from cross stitching for a bit this weekend.
