Goldfinches
September 18, 2007 by Melinda
My favorite season of all is Autumn. I have a nice breeze blowing in the window as I stitch and it is peacefully quiet except for the rustling leaves. My studio has a nice view of my front garden and I have been delighted to see the goldfinches again this year. I was afraid they wouldn’t visit, but go elsewhere because I did not plant any cosmos in the garden. Last year I had a wide variety of cosmos with their vivid pinks and purples. The goldfinches absolutely loved them when they went to seed in the Fall and I watched them sway on the stalks and flower heads. This year my Echinacea bloomed and have gone to seed now for the goldfinches. I love the calls they make “per-chick-o-ree” and it makes me looks up from my stitching to take a small break to watch them before they go on their way again and I go back to my stitching.

Sounds wonderful
