My Inspiration
September 11, 2007 by Melinda
My garden like most everyone else’s I would suspect, has suffered from dry, hot temperatures. The few things blooming at the moment are my hostas with their delicate lavender-colored blooms (the honeybees adore them), hardy marigolds and my miniature fairy roses. They have made a second bloom and I have been pampering them. They burst forth and have been a wonderful splash of color near my front door to greet me on my travels in and out of the house. They have also become my inspiration for the honeybee biscornu design. I completely changed course and worked it to include my fairy roses with their lovely shades of pink. Yesterday, I pulled all my flosses, prepared my fabric and began stitching the biscornu top section.

Melinda,
I fiund your new name and site and have noted it on my blog.
My knitting friend Wendy and I are going to a new wool shop next week to look for yarn for my mittens and for a shawl I want to make for my daughter-in-law. I don’t know when I am going to knit since I can barely keep up with all my stitching projects but I’ll manage somehow. We can always find time to do the things we like I think.
Hi Ann,
With both stitching and knitting, I look at it the same way: if I am able to work a few rows, that is a few rows I have completed. They all add up. Last year I began knitting an Aran cable vest for myself and was able to finish it by setting aside a small amount of time each day both after school and a bit more on weekends. It took some time this way, but I eventually got it done. I used plenty of flourescent pink sticky notes to keep my place though!! For needlework, I use a metal board and magnets to keep my place, so I can pick it up or leave it when need be. I love to stay busy with projects of all sorts. Thanks for the post and good luck with your hunt for yarn!
