Costumes and Embroidery at the Met
August 12, 2007 by Melinda
When I was in Art School, we had the opportunity to sign up for day trips to go to New York City. For $10 we could hop on the bus and head to our favorite museums to learn and enjoy. One of my favorite places was the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is just so much to see, it is nearly impossible to absorb it all in just one day. I recall going on many bus trips.
I haven’t been back for many years, but the Met has an online tour of the Museum and many works of art. I included a link directly to the Costume Institute where you could effectively get lost online for an extended time if you wanted to by looking at the exquisite examples of clothing and embroidery from the past. There is a cool zoom/enlarge feature to get close-up. If you can’t travel to New York and to the Met, it is the next best thing! Enjoy!
