Caron’s New Garden Sampler
July 27, 2007 by Melinda
I am a big fan of the Caron Collection’s Waterlilies and Soie Cristale silk fibers. I love the feel of the silk when stitching and they have the most exquisite color combinations. I have tried my hand in the past with making a crazy quilt and numerous crazy quilt pillows personalized and given as gifts. With the aid of my stitch and reference books, my aim with the crazy quilt was to teach myself new stitches in a free-form fashion and also to explore various threads and fibers.
I just received a needlework publication today which has an advertisement for the Caron Collection’s new “Patches”. I can tell by reading about it and seeing it on their website that I love this. What a great idea! It can be taught in a class or be self-guided, the stitcher can complete stitches to create their own garden sampler according to what they want to learn - a few stitch combinations or all of them. The sample shown on their site is just lovely to look at. I hope you’ll take a peek using the link above on the Title. There are so many possibilities for this Garden Sampler too - make a stitch band to go around a basket edging, napkin rings, placemats are just a few that came to mind. What a great way to play with fibers and learn new stitches!
