So far so good

Here is a quick view of the Welcome Home Sampler worked over the last few days. I just started the door to the house vignette at the top this morning. I worked the long arm cross stitch and eyelets in for accent so far.
The story behind this sampler is a simple one. For me, it is about giving some meaning to what I do as a needleworker. This past spring, my youngest daughter brought home a flyer from her school about Habitat for Humanity. They are projected to build some affordable homes in my hometown. I am not good with a hammer, but I am fairly good with a needle. I signed up to volunteer, and over the course of the coming year, will stitch six samplers to be given to the new, prospective homeowners. I think it is a small gesture in comparison to the generous activities of the other people involved with the builds, but still it will be a heartfelt gift to wish the new homeowners well in their new homes. More to follow later as the sampler progresses.
