Summer Knitting 2
June 26, 2007 by Melinda
I work on designing daily. Recently, I switched to a new cross stitch computer program and today’s task was to begin putting in a design that was in a previous, older program. It is a bit tedious just plugging in squares of color and counting to make sure I have it just right. So, for a quick break, I took a road trip this morning to my favorite knitting store to look for the yarn for my norwegian-style mittens. I might have been better off staying put and working!
I found a deep, navy blue wool yarn and an ecru color yarn to use for the one set of mittens. The other is a yarn called Swizzle which has an indigo shade for the main color with variations of purple, lemon yellow, red and light blue sprinkled here and there. I will use the ecru color as well for contrast. The yarn is a light finger weight sock yarn and just perfect for knitting the mittens. I love the wool as it is so warm when you wear them and it is so soft. Now that I have worked on a few projects, I prefer working with wool over the acrylics.
I know I should have stayed put. Back to squares of color and rebuilding the design (after I post this…..)
