Pilgrim Hall Museum
June 21, 2007 by Melinda
I had the opportunity yesterday to visit the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, MA. It is the home of a selection of some very beautiful, historic samplers and Pilgrim artifacts. I included a link to their website (click on the title above) because they have an online tour of the samplers and a brief history of the women who created them. Unfortunately, the only sampler on display yesterday was the Loara Standish sampler, but for me, it was the one that held the most interest. It is just wonderful to view it in person as it was stitched and wrought so skillfully. It is just fascinating to see handwork by a young woman stitched over 360 years ago.

Welcome to the world of blogging Melinda. I am relatively new at it myself but am enjoying it very much so far. It is great to meet stitchers from all over the world and to see their lovely work.
Your blog is very informative and I know I am going to enjoy coming back to it often.
Nice introduction to the blogging world Melinda. I have the greatest admiration for the designers of any cross stitch piece. It was very interesting to read how they come about. Since I am imagination challenged, I am thrilled to be able to work on a beautifully designed piece. Congrats and keep up the wonderful designs.
Thank you for your warm welcomes! Over the course of the last few years, I have met many wonderful people both at needlework stores, guilds and stitch related events and I have so enjoyed speaking with every one. Using this online medium, I hope to share my passion for needlework and to continue meeting more of the extraordinary stitchers from our needlearts world.
