Storytelling

Some of the best ideas come from just having fun. With young kids that’s easy because imaginations run rampant and sillyness takes hold. A while back I bought some finger puppets in a local childrens bookstore. They are mini field mice from the Folkmanis Company http://www.folkmanis.com/ and they offer other wonderful little critters like rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels and owls. Just super for kids. These critters come to life in storytelling and continuing adventures. The white mouse we named Henrietta Wiggles and the brown mouse was named Joseph Wiggles. I hope you will take a look at the Folkmanis website. Judy’s company began with this same spirit of fun and adventure when she created hand puppets for her kids and then began selling them.
So what does this have to do with cross stitch you ask? In the spirit of storytelling, I’d like to introduce you to our mice and some of their adventures. I am starting a series of fun, small designs available on Patterns Online http://www.patternsonline.com/ that you can work on for childrens projects if you like. Create a crib quilt or bumper, a pillow, a birth announcement. Let your creativity take hold.
The first design is called “Lily of the Valley” and shows Henrietta Mouse collecting sprigs of the tiny bell shaped flowers to bring home in her basket. She loves these little flowers because they are considered good luck. They brighten her home and make her smile.
